As we enter the final months of our project, we are thrilled to be putting the finishing touches to an exhibition that will enable us not only to display this wonderful collection to the public at last, but will also put on show just the achievements of our wonderful and dedicated volunteer team. This project has been a labour of love for most of us here, and while the rewards of working with the material are high, the practicalities of getting such a vast collection rehoused, catalogued, digitised and researched mean that day to day this work can often be repetitive, slow-going and sometimes downright confusing and/or frustrating. It is testament to the very human nature of the material just how many of our volunteers have stayed the test of time and persevered to bring this collection back to life.
From 22 July to 28 August, the project takes over the Europa Gallery in Sutton Central Library to display just a fraction of the images we have uncovered and the research that has been achieved. The exhibition will run during regular library opening hours and we really hope that many of our followers will be able to make it down to have a look.
